2021 COMESA Media Awards

DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2021 ― The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has called for entries for the 2021 COMESA Media Awards.

The annual Award recognizes and rewards journalists who have contributed to regional integration by publishing and broadcasting stories on the subject.

Parameters for eligible entries include relevance to regional integration, regional dimension, and awareness about COMESA programmes.

The competition is open to individual journalists who are COMESA nationals, and awards are open for published and broadcasted works in the fields of print, radio, television, and online media.

The member States of COMESA include: Burundi, the Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Sudan, Somalia, Seychelles, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Entries must have been published or aired by a recognised media institution between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2020 in any of the 21 COMESA Member States.

All submissions must be in English, French or Arabic.

The award categories are Print Journalism, Radio Journalism, Television Journalism and Online/New Media.

Selection of the best works will be done by an adjudication panel identified by COMESA Secretariat from Member States.

Winners will get a monetary award, a trophy and a certificate during the COMESA Heads of State Summit.

All submissions must be original and in conformity with copyright requirements.

The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2021.
