Michael Elliott Award for in African Storytelling

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2021 — Applications for Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling 2021 are currently open.

The competition will honour two award winners who published groundbreaking journalistic work between December 1, 2019 and December 1, 2020.

Applicants should submit a well-reported piece that reflects top-notch storytelling about important issues in Africa.

The submission can include a feature story; an in-depth, investigative or explanatory piece; or a multimedia report, audio programming or documentary.

Each applicant can only submit one published work.

The contest is open to English-speaking journalists working in Africa for print, broadcast and online news media.

Interested applicants must have no more than ten years of journalism experience.

A copy of the published story or broadcast clip must be submitted in English. Works in other languages must include English translations.

The deadline for application is February 15, 2021.
