Apply for ICIR Data Journalism Investigative Award

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31, 2019

The International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) in conjunction with the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan (UCJUI) is set to hold the maiden edition of the Annual ICIR Award for Investigation in Data Journalism.

Applicant must be a certified campus journalist within Nigeria.

First prize: N120, 000 + Grant opportunity for investigation
Second prize: N80, 000 + Grant opportunity for investigation
Third prize: N50, 000 + Grant opportunity for investigation
The 4th and 5th positions get grant opportunity for investigation and internship placement with ICIR in Abuja.

To apply:

  • Upload a copy of this award graphics on Twitter and mention UCJ UI and ICIR
  • Select any topic of choice based on happenings within 2019 alone
  • Then write an investigative story on it using Data Journalism
  • Word count: 1200 – 1500 words (Times New Roman; 1.5 spacing; font size 12)
  • Add references below
  • Scan and send in pdf format (to avoid your essay being tampered with) and also in word format to publish it on UCJ UI
  • When submitting, attach a short bio of yourself and scanned ID card of your school and press body (in another word doc)
  • The link would be sent back to you after which you will upload on Twitter with the hashtag #UCJUI and #ICIR AWARD
