DEADLINE: DECEMBER 18, 2020 ―  The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute is currently accepting proposals from individuals and organizations who wish to partner with the institute on innovative projects that strengthen journalism’s future.

All projects will be built and implemented in a newsroom within the span of 8 months.

RJI Fellowships are open to U.S. citizens and news organizations as well as international news outlets.

International journalists who plan to partner with U.S.-based news, technology and civil society organizations can also apply.

Applicants will publish regular updates at rjionline.org and at the end of the fellowship will publish the results and lessons learned from the implementation of the project after it has been tested in a newsroom.

RJI Fellowships are in three categories namely, residential, nonresident, and institutional.

Anyone above 18 can apply for the residential and nonresidential category.

Managers and executives from institutions or companies can apply for the institutional category and the starting date is negotiable.

Applicants interested in the residential category should note that fellowship will start by June 1, 2021

Stipend:

  • Residential fellows receive $10,000 a month and a one-time reimbursement for relocation costs up to $10,000
  • Nonresidential fellows receive $20,000, payable quarterly in increments of $5000.
  • Institutional fellows receive $20,000 total, distributed as $5,000 quarterly to the institution

Selection of fellows will start in the early spring. Applicants will be notified via e-mail on the institute’s decision regarding their applications.

The deadline for submissions is December 18, 2020.
