Attend Investigative Reporting During The Pandemic webinar

WanaData

Code For Africa under its WanaData programme is inviting women journalists and data scientists to join its virtual meetup titled Investigative Reporting During The Pandemic.

WanaData, an initiative of Code For Africa, is Africa’s first peer network for women data journalists and scientists.

Code for Africa is the continent’s largest network of civic technology and open data labs, which give WanaData access to cutting-edge technologies ranging from drones and sensors to satellite imagery and software engineers.

It aims to do two things:

  • Use data to help amplify women’s perspectives and place in major development issues; and
  • Turbocharge the careers of women data champions to help ensure that decisions are shaped by women themselves.

The network currently has 11 chapters in six countries (Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda), which meet monthly to share skills, brainstorm projects or campaigns, and kickstart collaborations. We also offer intensive 1-on-1 mentoring, and resources for collaborative projects.

WanaData Meetups aim to train and empower women data journalist and scientists with skills that they can use to further develop their data journalism storytelling skills.
