AWIM Pitch Zone offers female journalists up to $3500 grants

Female journalists can submit written pitches for reporting grants of up to $3500 awarded by the African Union and African Women in Media (AWiM).

To be eligible to pitch, applicants must attend the African Women in Media Conference (AWiM22) either in-person or virtually. The conference is slated for December 8-9, 2022 in Fez, Morocco.

During the annual conference, the journalists will be given the opportunity to pitch and defend their story ideas before a group of judges.

The AWIM Pitch Zone allows female journalists to showcase their creativity and ultimately be awarded the funding that will support their ambitions and give a voice to the communities represented in their final work.

Interested female journalists can submit written pitches for any of the 5 award categories

Submissions must reflect Africa’s Agenda 2063 and reflect the progress and/or impact of the implementation of Agenda 2063 on African citizenry.

Participants must be female journalists, be at least 18 years of age and be citizens of any of the 55 Member States of the African Union.

Pitches should be in English or French.
