Bertha Challenge: Fellowships for Activists and Investigative Journalists

DEADLINE: JULY 3, 2021 —Bertha Foundation invites applications from activists and investigative journalists for the third Bertha Challenge.

The Bertha Challenge is a full-time paid fellowship that allows activists and investigative journalists to produce a body of work that responds to one pressing social justice challenge.

The 2021 edition will focus on how the relationship between politics and profit contributes to the degradation and loss of freshwater and oceans, and what can be done to ensure equitable access and protection of these finite resources for people and planet.

Fellows will have access to about USD $62,400 income, project fund(up to USD $10,000), connect fund(up to USD $5,000), mentorship, and networking among others.

Investigative journalists and activists are encouraged to apply jointly. Joint applicants must fill in individual applications, but make reference to their partner applicant

Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English.

The deadline for applications is July 3rd, 2021.
