Global Business Journalism

DEADLINE: APRIL 1,  2021 ― The Global Business Journalism (GBJ) at Tsinghua University in Beijing is currently accepting students for the first round of its master’s degree program.

The GBJ program, which is a partnership between the International Center for Journalists, Tsinghua University and Bloomberg News, is the most prestigious English-language business journalism program on the Chinese mainland.

Global Business Journalism offers an array of specialized courses including data mining, corporate strategies, international accounting standards, multimedia journalism, new media practice, advanced news writing, ethics, and documentary filmmaking production.

GBJ is a two-year program that provides a challenging, multicultural education teaching how to cover the intricacies of global economics, finance and business.

Applicants must be fluent in English and capable of writing news stories and an academic thesis in English.

Application deadlines for non-Chinese students:

  • First round: Nov. 1, 2020 – Dec. 15, 2020
  • Second round: Dec. 16, 2020 – March 1, 2021
  • Third round: March 2, 2021 – April 1, 2021

Non-Chinese students must have a valid passport and a bachelor’s degree.

Scholarships are available based on criteria including prior academic achievement, financial need and geographical diversity.
