Local news outlets can apply for financing from MDIF

Local news outlets can apply for financing from MDIF

Local news outlets across the globe can apply for financing from the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF).

In December, we reported about how Nigeria’s media, research, and data analytics startup, Dataphyte raised $100,000 in seed funding with MDIF to assist it in carrying forward its innovative work of using data to create digital products.

MDIF seeks applications from outlets that provide media assistance or provide tools, platforms and/or infrastructure that support the operations of qualifying companies or organizations.

The organisations must provide unique, credible, independent news, information or debate in the public interest.

The beneficiary organisations are selected based on three broad criteria: mission impact in relation to investment; potential for long-term viability; and editorial integrity.
