Programme officer, investigation head, intern needed at Cable Foundation

DEADLINE: JUNE 21, 2020 – The Cable Newspaper Journalism Foundation (CNJF), a partner of TheCable online newspaper is seeking highly qualified candidates to join the team.

CNJF also known as the Cable Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation using the vehicle of journalism to advance transparency and accountability in government.

The Cable Foundation is a subscriber to “solutions journalism” – a school that believes in rigorous reporting of positive response to problems and challenges.

With support from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), Cable Foundation is about to undertake two new major tasks:

(1) Using the vehicle of campus journalism to deepen democratic participation and social action among young people, particularly on the campuses of higher institutions in Nigeria;

(2) Pursuing accountability and good governance in the health sector, with close attention to the management of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Highly qualified candidates are expected to apply for the posts of;

PROGRAMME OFFICER
Location: Lagos or Abuja.
Tenure: Renewable one-year contract.
The ideal candidate who will lead the team that will execute the key tasks and see to the overall success of the project must be an experienced journalist with strong writing and reportorial skills as well as leadership abilities and have previous experience in non-profit work and ability to collaborate with civil society organisations are considered critical. He must also have proficiency in modern, digital journalism.

HEAD, INVESTIGATIONS
Location: Lagos or Abuja.
Tenure: Renewable one-year contract.
The ideal candidate who will lead a team of vibrant investigative journalists and help the Cable Foundation deliver on its mandate must be an experienced investigative journalist with strong analytical, creative and leadership skills and must have proficiency in modern, digital journalism. He/she must have mainstream newspaper experience while awards on investigating journalism will be added advantage.

GRADUATE INTERNS
Locations: Lagos and Abuja.
Duration: Six months
Interns who will be involved in investigative reporting as well as data gathering/analysis must have graduated between 2018 and 2020 and have demonstrable flair for journalism with social media skills and analytical thinking.
