WanaData fellowships available for data-driven projects on gender issues

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 12, 2021 —Journalists who are interested in using data to tell stories about women in Africa can apply for WanaData fellowships.

The fellowship is spearheaded by Code for Africa (CfA) in partnership with WACC’s Who Makes The News program.

The program will use data to explore women’s representation and voices in the media including key challenges, barriers and opportunities.

The WanaData fellowships will teach journalists basic data journalism skills and help those with data experience expand their skills by taking on more ambitious projects.

Up to six fellows will receive a US$1,000 project grant each, plus intensive one-on-one mentoring and technical support.

Applicants must be established journalists or digital storytellers (such as bloggers or social media content creators) with a minimum of one year experience in the media.

Interested journalists must be fluent in English and based in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania or Uganda.

The deadline for submissions is November 12, 2021.
