DEADLINE: JUNE 14, 2026 — Applications are currently open for the 2026 Kurt Schork Awards in International Journalism, an annual programme that recognises courageous reporting on conflict, corruption, injustice and human rights abuses across the world.
Organised by the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund, the awards honour freelance journalists, local reporters and news fixers whose work exposes difficult realities, often under dangerous conditions.
Winners in each category will receive a $5,000 cash prize.
The 2026 edition features three categories: the Freelance Award for journalists reporting from conflict zones; the Local Reporter Award for journalists covering issues within their home countries, particularly in developing nations or countries in transition; and the News Fixer Award for local experts and journalists who support foreign correspondents with guidance and access in hostile or difficult environments.
The deadline for applications is June 14, 2026.
