The prize for the Wits Centre for Journalism/African Investigative Journalism Conference (WCJ / AIJC) African Investigative Journalist of the Year Award is $5,000.
Supported by Absa, the award recognises outstanding investigative reporting from Africa that reveals untold stories, holds the powerful to account, questions those in public life and serves the public interest.
It is open to all African journalists or teams of journalists working in any media for stories from and about Africa published or broadcast in African media between July 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024.
The award ceremony will be held at the African Investigative Journalism Conference in Johannesburg.
The deadline for entries is September 27, 2024.
