ANA, Engaging Borders Africa seek stories from writers

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 29, 2021 —Nigerian writers are invited to submit stories for the Engaging Borders Africa Project.

The Engaging Borders Project is designed to enhance the implementation of social inclusion by generating and popularising organic counter narrative to violent extremist thinking and hate speech through stories and short films by creatives from Nigeria, West Africa and the continent.

To generate the best 8 short stories from Nigerian creative writers, Engaging Borders Africa Projects partners with the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

Interested writers can submit 250-word story concepts.

ANA will select 10 attendees with the strongest story concepts and motivations to attend a 2-day virtual workshop.

The 10 attendees will be required to submit short stories between 3,500 words and 5,000 words length within 1 week after the workshop.

The best 8 among the short stories submitted by the 10 selected workshop attendees will be published in the Engaging Borders Africa Project’s website.

(Although the organisers will favour story concepts around Boko Haram, others around other violent extremism shall not be discarded.)

2. Send submission as an attachment to an email, with the subject: “ANA/Engaging Borders Story Concept Submission”, to ananationalforum@gmail.com, Copying comms@engagingborders.com.
