DEADLINE: JUNE 4, 2020 – The Online News Association (ONA) is accepting entries for the 2020 Online Journalism Awards which recognises excellence in digital reporting.
The Online Journalism Awards recognises major media, international and independent sites and individuals producing innovative work in digital storytelling.
The OJA Committee and judges place special emphasis on entries that demonstrate mastery of the special characteristics and emerging technology of digital journalism.
These awards honour data journalism, investigative journalism, public service, student journalism and community engagement.
This year, two new categories being introduced for the 2020Online Journalism Awards; these are the Topical Reporting: Climate Change and Excellence in Newsletters.
Other categories are Breaking News, Digital Video Storytelling, Excellence and Innovation in Visual Digital Storytelling, Excellence in Audio Digital Storytelling, Excellence in Collaboration and Partnerships, Excellence in Immersive Storytelling, Excellence in Newsletters, Explanatory Reporting, Feature among others.
The contest offers five awards totalling US$31,000, courtesy of the Knight Foundation, the Gannett Foundation, Agora Journalism Center and the University of Florida.
Entries are opened to works published between June 1, 2019, and May 31, 2020.
Entries must be available online for one year from date of submission.

Awards will be given at the Online News Association Conference & Awards Banquet which will hold September 30 to October 3 in Atlanta.
The entry fee is US$100 for Online News Association members, US$175 for non-members, US$15 for student members and US$50 for student non-members.
