Apply for grants at Fund for Investigative Journalism

The Fund for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) is offering grants to journalists for the production of impactful investigative stories.

Freelance journalists, staff reporters and media outlets are eligible for grants, and their investigations can be for print, online or broadcast stories, books, documentaries or podcasts.

Among the opportunities available is the Regular Grant, which awards up to $10,000 per project. This grant is designed to cover in-depth investigations across all media formats. The deadline for the next round of regular grants isl April 28, 2025.

Seed funding is also available. It provides small grants of up to $2,500 that help cover costs like open-records requests and initial reporting trips. The next deadline is May 9, 2025.
