AWiM seeks migration pitches

DEADLINE: JANUARY 24, 2025 — African Women in Media (AWiM) is currently accepting migration pitches.

Applicants can submit up to two pitches that prioritise authenticity, accuracy, and creativity, offering balanced and constructive narratives.

AWiM seeks pitches that:

• Explore migration’s role in Africa’s economic growth and social development.

• Highlight personal or community stories of labour mobility across African borders.

• Examine the implementation and potential of frameworks like the AU FMP and JLMP.

• Dispel migration-related myths and challenge existing misconceptions through evidence-based reporting.

• Present innovative, solution-oriented perspectives that advocate for inclusive migration narratives.

Proposed migration stories should be in-depth and multimedia storytelling formats, such as investigative and feature stories, long-form stories, multimedia content (videos, photo series, podcasts), and social media campaigns/storytelling series.

To be considered, applicants must:

• Submit a story pitch of at least 100 words, outlining the idea, relevance, intended formats and angle, and access to relevant sources and information.

• A brief cover letter detailing why you are the write person to deliver your proposed project

• Attach a CV or portfolio showcasing relevant experience, previous work, or content samples.

Applicants do not need to be affiliated with any media organisation; freelancers, independent creators, and non-affiliated storytellers are encouraged to apply.

The deadline for submissions is January 24, 2025.
