IPC has a fact-checking media workshop for journalists

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 8, 2024 — This fact-checking media workshop aims to build the skills of journalists on combatting information disorder, reporting using fact-checking and FOI tools.

The International Press Centre (IPC) in Lagos is conducting a two-day media workshop on combatting information disorder in democratic governance reporting.

The training will involve capacity building and interfaces on fact-checking and combatting fake news and shall deliberately attract the younger and relevant older generation of practising journalists.

Accommodation and DSA shall be provided for selected participants from states across the zones, while participants from host city shall only be entitled to token transport at the approved rates. Tea break and lunch shall be provided for all participants.

Journalists interested in the fact-checking media workshop must not have more than 15 years of media practice and must not be above 45 years old.

Applicants can be new/mid-level journalists from Print/online media, print, online and broadcast journalists working with community newspapers, as well as independent/freelance journalists & students/campus journalists, who are or already engaged in investigative journalism, among others.

All applicants would be required to provide links of two journalistic report to support their application.

The first in the series of the workshop will hold for applicants in the Southwest Region on February 14 and 15, 2024.
