Journalists in Niger trained on proper use of digital media

Selected journalists from the state and federal media organisations in Niger State have been trained on the use of digital media.

The two-day training was organised by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Niger State Governor, Mrs Mary Berje.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports in Minna that the training focused on content strategy, social, media risk management, content creation and the power of storytelling.

The training was conducted by Mr Chenemi Bamaiyi and Mr Tolu Adebayo of the LevelUp Digital Solutions.

She said the training become imperative because journalists are at the front line of developing events, adding that training is essential in making them abreast of the profession.

Adebayo taught journalists on how to use social media to disseminate accurate information on government plans for the people.

He said that journalists globally are using social media to keep in touch with their audiences, some use it to find new ideas for their stories some also gather additional information or sources from it.

Adebayo also spoke on how to use applications such as Google Drive, Google Keep, Google Doc, DropBox, Canva and use of smartphones to disseminate information.

One of the participants, Mrs Safiya Yaman, appreciated the Berje for the training, adding that the training would boost the knowledge of journalists on the appropriate use of new technology in their career. (NAN)
