Regarding the pitch on climate change, Mongabay wants story ideas about how farmers and pastoralists in the Sahel region of West and Central Africa are adapting their lives and livelihoods to extremes of temperature, to the presence and persistence of pests and diseases, and to newly-uncertain availability of water and forage due to changing rainfall patterns.
On land degradation, Mongabay is particularly interested in how changes in agricultural practices in West or Central Africa over the past 40 years have either accelerated and intensified damage to soil or are preserving and restoring it.
