Research reporter needed at The New York Times

The New York Times seeks a Research Reporter for a one-year contract full-time and paid position in Dakar, Senegal.

The Research reporter will contribute to coverage of politics, culture, climate change, security, migration and international relations, among other topics, and may help with breaking news, enterprise, investigations and innovative story forms.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.

Fluency in other widely-spoken West African languages, like Hausa and Pulaar, is preferred.

The research reporter for The New York Times should have a general knowledge of history, politics and culture across West Africa.
