Reuters seeks chief correspondent in Nigeria

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 13, 2024 — Reuters is hiring a chief correspondent to lead its coverage of Nigeria.

The Nigeria Chief Correspondent is a part of the Reuters News Accelerator Programme (RNAP), an intensive programme designed to bring talented local journalists into our global newsroom and accelerate their careers.

The role is based in either Lagos or Abuja, and the selected candidate will be responsible for producing a compelling multimedia file aimed at investors, professionals, and the worldwide media audience.

To be the Nigeria Chief Correspondent, you will likely have:

• Minimum of eight years of journalistic experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to generate compelling ideas and write with authority across a broad range of topics.
• Ability to deliver news swiftly, ensuring Reuters clients receive information first.
• Proven track record of producing scoops and in-depth, revelatory features.
• Strong collaboration skills, working with visuals colleagues and stringers to create original and engaging multimedia content.
• Exceptional writing skills, producing clean, lively copy.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel at short notice.

Fluency in English is required but additional languages are a plus.
