Gist Nigeria is calling on qualified applicants to take up the post of editor of the current affairs programme.
Gist Nigeria is BBC Africa’s pioneer co-production with a dynamic team that produces stories being talked about for the social media generation.
Recall that on Wednesday, April 17, 2020, BBC and Channels Television launched Gist Nigeria, a 30 minutes current affairs programme for Nigerian viewers and partner stations in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The programmed is anchored by Wale Fakile and Ajoke Lijadu-Ulohotse.
The editor will lead TV and digital news content for Nigeria and other African countries. The editor will coordinate, plan and guide all coverage whilst leading and motivating a team of journalists to produce high-quality content and to encourage original journalism and distinctive, innovative storytelling.
The editor will also serve as liaison officer between the organisation and BBC as well as other partners.
The editor will need to demonstrate an outstanding track record of delivering high impact, multiplatform news content for an African audience. The editor will have the ability to deliver editorial innovation and develop great digital and TV content while stimulating new thinking about news journalism.
Applicants with a solid understanding of top Nigerian, African and international news and how to maximise their potential will be at advantage.
The offer is on a 12-month fixed term in Lagos
