Vacancy: Intern news writer at Naija Feminists Media

ROLLING: DEADLINE — Naija Feminists Media (NFM), a platform dedicated to amplifying women’s voices and challenging the status quo, has a vacancy for the remote role of an Intern News Writer.

Apart from receiving N50,000 for the internship role, the selected candidate will work remotely, gain experience in content writing and work with a diverse and committed team of feminists.

NFM seeks a passionate, articulate, and detail-oriented News Writer, who will cover various topics, including women-related news, gender issues, politics, social movements, and current events, ensuring the content resonates with the platform’s diverse audience.

The ideal candidate is someone who can quickly identify key issues, work independently, and produce clear and engaging stories that spark conversation and drive change.

The News Writer will:

  • Write an average of 2 news articles, features, or opinion pieces daily on gender-related topics.
  • Conduct in-depth research and interviews to produce accurate, well-rounded reports.
  • Stay up-to-date on current events, women-related news and feminist issues, ensuring news coverage is relevant and timely.
  • Collaborate with editors and other writers to develop and refine story ideas.
  • Fact-check all news articles to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Maintain a consistent voice and style that aligns with our brand’s feminist perspective.
  • Pitch story ideas and contribute to editorial planning meetings.
  • Assist in editing and proofreading content as needed.

Key requirements for applicants apply for the role include:

  • Proven experience as a news writer, journalist, or content creator.
  • Writing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Solid research and interviewing skills.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and social media.
  • Experience in writing for digital platforms.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Passionate about gender equality.
