WanaData Fellowships open to African data journalists, data scientists

DEADLINE: JANUARY 11, 2026 — Code for Africa (CfA) invites African data journalists and data scientists to apply for WanaData Fellowships designed to promote a secure digital space through gender projects.

Applicants must be registered WanaData members with at least one year of experience as a data scientist or data storyteller (journalist, media content creator, etc).

The fellowship aims to address content gaps on gender projects related to the African Union Convention on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection, e-democracy, digital mobilisation in social movements, SDG16, freedom of expression, and human rights in the Sahel region, neighbouring West Africa, and the Horn of Africa.

Up to 14 fellows will be awarded for the six-month fellowship, and each fellow receives a stipend of USD 250 per month.

The deadline for applications is January 11, 2026.
