Youths Digest to unveil N100,000 investigative journalism awards for students soon

Participants at the Campus Journalism Dialogue

Organisers of the annual Campus Journalism Awards (CJA), Youths Digest is set to unveil plans for an investigative journalism competition for students of tertiary institutions soon.

Director of the organisation, Gidado Shuaib, made this known at the weekend during the Campus Journalism Dialogue (CJD) held at Bayero University (Kano).

Gidado, during his appreciation message after the event, revealed that the modalities for the investigative reporting competition will soon be revealed.

This was sequel to a N100,000 cash prize promise made by the Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani during his address on the theme of the dialogue, “Building the Future of Nigerian Media: The Corruption Challenge.”

Shuaib said: “Some few months ago, precisely at the 2019 edition of the Annual Campus Journalism Awards (CJA), we unveiled a plan for the Campus Journalism Dialogue (CJD).

“Our drive was simply the need to ensure that campus journalists get all the support they can, and we are glad this event has become a success with impactful results already.

“Very soon, we shall be announcing modalities for the investigative reporting competition for students to be sponsored by CISLAC.

“Already, a cash prize of 100, 000 naira will be given to the winner as announced by the Executive Director of CISLAC, at the CJD event.

“Let me assure all and sundry that Youths Digest remain committed to organizing impactful events around the country, and will be quick to update students about latest developments.

“With our collective efforts, we can build the future we want for journalism in Nigeria,” Shuaib said.
