
DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2022 ― The Public Affairs Section at U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, has announced an open competition for local media capacity development organizations, journalism schools and professional media associations to carry out political journalism workshops for journalists, photojournalists and editors in Nigeria.
While applications are welcomed from any organisation in the country, such organisation must be registered as a not-for-profit (non-profit) organisation in Nigeria.
The focus of the programme to be implemented must be in Southern Nigeria.
The two-pronged programme to be implemented are;
- political Journalism Workshop – a capacity building program on political reporting for reporters, political editors covering the 2023 election cycle.
- photojournalism and Videography Workshop for photojournalists and video-journalists working in print, electronic (TV) and digital media (online) organizations.
Applications that promote Nigeria’s democratic governance, unity and stability by improving government transparency and accountability, the rule of law, a free and professional media, as well as civil society capacity and engagement are encouraged.
