DEADLINE: OCTOBER 28, 2020 ― Journalists in Africa can apply for training and grants from the Thomson Reuters Foundation to investigate sports management in their countries or other African countries.
Interested applicants need not be a sports reporter but must show deep interests in how sports is run. Application is also open to investigative and business reporters.
Interested journalists must be based in an African country and working for a domestic print, radio, TV or online media outlet.
Successful applicants will work on a specific story idea and develop same during an intensive workshop in Nairobi, Kenya and will receive editorial guidance and mentoring support to help them make the story solid and engaging.
The workshop will also cover investigative techniques, storytelling approaches, and more.
Thomson Reuters Foundation will cover all transport and subsistence costs of successful applicants.
Participating journalists can also apply for modest funding to help cover the costs of reporting their story.
