CJID hosts climate change reporting workshop

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 14, 2023 — Nigerian journalists can apply for this 3-day climate change reporting workshop.

The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), with support from the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy, Abuja, is hosting the workshop.

Tagged “Strengthening Media Capacity on Better Climate Change Reporting”, the workshop will equip applicants with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to inclusively investigate and report on developing issues around climate change in Nigeria to improve public knowledge of climate change while also hold the government accountable for its actions and inactions.
Trained journalists will receive microgrants to support in-depth news gathering on the diverse mitigation and adaptation efforts undertaken by individuals and communities in the aftermath of flooding as well as other climate change-peculiar challenges.

Applicants must be based in Nigeria and must write or report for a Nigerian based media platform with national or sub regional coverage.

Journalists who report for International media organizations with a presence in Nigeria may also apply.

Particular preference will be given to applicants with a track record of environment/climate change reporting and special consideration will be given to applicants who are PWDs.

Female journalists are also encouraged to apply.
