In commencement of its 2020 Fact-Checking Fellowship, the Premium Times Center for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ), through its fact-checking project, Dubawa, has selected 23 journalists from Nigeria and Ghana.
The 23 journalists were selected from the pool of 104 applications it received for the 2020 edition.
A statement released by Dubawa Programme Assistant, Temilade Onilede said the 2020 fellowship which brings together journalists from print, electronic and online media will run from July through December 2020.
The fellows are expected to tackle misinformation and hold politicians accountable and expand the reach of verified information to grassroots communities.
Onilede also revealed that the fellows will be trained on the misinformation ecosystem, accountability journalism, fact-checking methodology, FOI implementation, data presentation and analysis, and fact-checking/verification tools as an innovation to today’s journalism between Monday, July 20 and Thursday, July 23, 2020.
The Dubawa Fact-Checking Fellowship is supported by the Heinrich Boll Stiftung Foundation (HBS) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
