Journalists can apply for CCIJ’s environmental investigations across borders training

DEADLINE: DECEMBER 20, 2025 — Journalists in Africa and Europe can apply for this training on environmental investigations by the Centre for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ).

Tagged “Strengthening Environmental Investigations Across Borders”, the professional development opportunity is a six-month training programme supported by Journalismfund Europe.

It will bring together journalists from Africa and Europe to strengthen their reporting on environmental harm, global supply chains, and corporate accountability through practical workshops, mentorship, and collaborative learning.

Through 12 online workshops (90 minutes each), participants will learn to:

  • Track industrial emissions and toxic exports
  • Analyse corporate financial records
  • Verify carbon credit claims and detect greenwashing
  • Apply AI and OSINT tools
  • Tell powerful data-driven environmental stories

The training period is from February – July 2026. The sessions will be hands-on, practical, and results-driven, combining expert instruction with real-world investigative assignments, one-on-one mentorship, and access to digital resource toolkits.

CCIJ will select 40 mid-career investigative reporters and 10 early-career journalists or students for the training.

The deadline for applications is December 20, 2025.
