DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2021— Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) is currently accepting applications from journalists for the 2021 Isu Elihle Awards.
Professional journalists, whether directly employed or freelancers, working in the continent of Africa can submit story ideas.
The organizers seek stories that give different perspective to children’s issues, especially areas that are not commonly given a children’s angle such as the economic impact on children, land issues, investment.
The top six journalists will be selected and given financial support of R10 000 to research and develop their concepts into publishable material, which will then be published or broadcast, by a mainstream news media house of their choosing.
The top six stories will further undergo adjudication and only the top three are guaranteed to win a cash prize.
The fourth cash prize for The Isu Elihle Mandy Rossouw Accountability Category is conditional. It will only be awarded if there is a story (in the top six) that meets the criteria for the category.
All entries and story ideas should be in English.
The deadline for applications is April 30, 2021.
