DEADLINE: OCTOBER 30, 2024 — Naija Feminists Media (NFM) invites writers, artists and creatives to share their reflections on resisting gender-based violence and reclaiming autonomy.
This call for literary submissions is part of the NFM’s #16DaysofActivism project with the theme “I Am Not Your Prey or Afraid No More”.
Young women, academics, grassroots groups, activists, and anyone committed to ending male violence against women can submit news stories (written, photo, and video), poems, articles, essays, photographs, photo essays, illustrations, paintings (including digital), graphic designs, or short stories.
Word count for submissions:
Submissions must be original works that have not been published elsewhere and are not under consideration for publication. Works must be submitted in English, and while videos can be in other languages, they must be subtitled in English.
Submissions should address male violence against women in Africa and focus on one or more of the following areas: Domestic Violence, Sexual Harassment, Rape and Sexual Assault, Economic Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation, Child Marriage, Sex Trafficking, Honour Killings, Reproductive Coercion, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Workplace Violence, Cyber Harassment, Intimate Partner Violence, Maternity Discrimination, Street Harassment and Educational Inequality.
Benefits include publication opportunities on NFM’s website and social media platforms as well as social media recognition.
