Vacancy: Senior Journalist needed at BBC Yoruba

DEADLINE: JANUARY 4, 2021 — BBC Yoruba is recruiting a Senior Journalist who will output, produce, and present digital content across news and features.

Applicants must demonstrate strong editorial judgement and multimedia production skills, as well as a desire to report news and current affairs in a fair and unbiased way for a global audience.

Interested applicants must also have demonstrable experience of working on social media platforms, along with excellent editorial experience and strong writing skills.

Selected candidate will be tasked to use social media effectively to spot the news as it breaks, curate and cultivate user-generated content, identify viral content, develop and manage onsite communities and offsite social presences, with the aim of maximising reach and awareness.

Candidates must have an eye for a good story, the ability to tell digital stories in Yoruba and English and have video editing skills.

It would also be advantageous if candidates’ language skills extend to Igbo, Hausa or Pidgin.
