West Africa Reporter needed at Associated Press

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 27, 2022 —The Associated Press seeks a West Africa reporter to join its team in Dakar, Senegal.

The reporter will be responsible for original reporting of major spot news developments in West Africa.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with the diverse team of journalists at the AP who operate in all formats – text, photo, video, audio, digital/social, interactive and graphics.

Applicants should have at least three years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk.

Other qualifications include Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; permission to work in Senegal; advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English; professional competency in French including the ability to translate new stories; and an ability to work in challenging news environments in developing countries
