2026 Alfred Opubor Next-Gen Awards for Campus Journalism

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 1, 2026 — The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) invites student journalists in Nigeria to submit entries for the 2026 Alfred Opubor Next-Gen Awards for Campus Journalism.

The awards recognise young journalists who use public-interest journalism to amplify student voices, uncover issues, hold authorities accountable and contribute to their communities.

The 2026 awards will recognise excellence in six categories: Investigative Journalism, Community Reporting, Data Journalism, Campus Affairs, Health Reporting, and Reporting on Inclusion.

One category winner will also be named Campus Journalist of the Year in recognition of excellence, consistency, impact and commitment to public-interest campus journalism.

Eligible entries must have been published between October 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026.

The deadline for submissions is October 1, 2026.
