2026 Reporter Slam Nigeria open to journalists

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 20, 2026 — Reporter Slam Nigeria is inviting journalists to apply for its 2026 live journalism storytelling platform.

The programme provides selected journalists, reporters, documentary filmmakers and multimedia journalists the opportunity to step away from their bylines and take the stage to share the stories, experiences and human realities behind their reporting.

The theme for the 2026 edition is “Journalism & The Nigerian Story”, with a focus on Nigeria’s election year, democracy and the role of journalism in shaping the Nigerian story.

Applicants are expected to use a story or event from their reporting experience to explore issues around fostering democracy or offer a view or review of Nigeria’s democracy.

Stories may explore Nigerian lived experiences across areas including civic participation, solutions journalism, democracy in action, governance, gender, climate, security, press freedom and social change.

The deadline for applications is September 20, 2026.
