American Geophysical Union seeks nominations for science journalism awards

DEADLINE: MARCH 27, 2024 — The American Geophysical Union (AGU) seeks journalists to submit nominations for its science journalism awards.

The science journalism awards recognise stories that increase understanding and awareness of the Earth and space sciences.

AGU seeks entries for any of the following categories of awards:

1. The David Perlman Award for Excellence in Science Journalism – News

2. The Walter Sullivan Award for Excellence in Science Journalism – Features

While the David Perlman Award category seeks Earth and space science news reporting generally produced under deadline pressure of one week or less, the Walter Sullivan Award category is for a feature story or series that makes information about the Earth and space sciences both accessible and interesting to non-scientists.

Works for the news and features awards must have been published or broadcast in 2023.

In addition to getting a trip to attend the AGU Fall Meeting, the winners will receive $5,000.

The deadline for nominations is March 27, 2024.
