New Media Writing Prize open for entries

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2026 — The New Media Writing Prize (NMWP) is accepting entries for its 2025/2026 competition.

The New Media Writing Prize encourages and promotes the best in new-media writing and is leading the way toward the future of the ‘written’ word and interactive storytelling.

The winning work in each category will receive the following prize:

  • The Chris Meade Memorial UK New Media Writing Prize: £1000
  • The IDN for Social Good Award: £500
  • The Opening Up Award: £500
  • The Student Award: TBD
  • The Digital Journalism Award: TBD

The Competition is free and open to any person regardless of their age or nationality.

The New Media Writing Prize is looking for good storytelling (fiction or non-fiction) written specifically for delivery and reading/viewing on a PC or Mac, the web, or a hand-held device such as an iPad or mobile phone.

It could be a short story, novel, poem, narrative game, documentary, or transmedia work using words, images, film or animation with audience interaction.

The deadline for applications is February 1, 2026.
