SERAP seeks applications for workshop on media rights, press freedom

DEADLINE: JUNE 25, 2026 — The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) invites journalists in Abuja to apply for a workshop on media rights, press freedom and legal resilience.

Participants will gain practical knowledge on practical tools to defend their rights and uphold press freedom.

It will also cover journalists’ rights under Nigerian and international human rights law; legal safeguards against harassment, unlawful detention, and the misuse of laws like the Cybercrimes Act; strategies for pursuing legal redress and challenging censorship, practical use of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act for investigative journalism; and building legal resilience against digital and physical threats to media freedom.

Female journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.

The deadline for applications is June 25, 2026.
