DEADLINE: OCTOBER 1, 2025 — Journalists can submit story pitches on poor education financing, limited citizen participation in education planning and gender-blind policy implementation in Oyo State.
DevReporting, a niche media and cinematic platform focused on development reporting, is facilitating this, in partnership with Education As a Vaccine (EVA), as part of its efforts to reshape journalism practice on development issues.
The initiative seeks to support selected applicants to produce investigative and in-depth reports on challenges facing the education sector in Oyo State.
Pitches, with multimedia elements, can also focus on analysis and editorials.
Reporters based in Oyo or nearby states in the Southwest region can apply for the grant.
Focus areas:
- Transparency and accountability in the education sector, especially in budgeting and service delivery.
- Gender-responsive planning and budgeting.
- Barriers to girls’ education (e.g, poverty, early marriage, insecurity, lack of WASH facilities) and how policy and financing
reforms can address these challenges. - Citizens’ role in education planning and monitoring: participation, engagement, and impact.
- Success stories or gaps in education financing that affect girls’ school attendance and completion.
Interested applicants should submit a detailed proposal outlining their story ideas, proposed sources, methodology and expected impact.
DevReporting intends to publish commissioned stories three weeks after the date of approval of pitches.
Further inquiries should be directed to

The deadline to submit pitches is October 1, 2025.
