Journalists can apply for EJN biodiversity story grants 2026

DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2026 — The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is offering reporting grants to journalists to support the production of in-depth stories on biodiversity.

EJN is offering biodiversity story grants to increase the quality and quantity of biodiversity coverage, and to highlight the overwhelming threats to the natural world as well as promising or proven solutions.

Selected journalists will be awarded 5-10 grants with an average budget of 1,000-2,000 EUR.

EJN is only accepting applications for stories focused on countries classified as low- or middle-income (which includes upper-middle income countries) by the World Bank.

Applications are open to early-career journalists and experienced reporters with a track record of covering biodiversity issues.

The deadline for applications is May 1, 2026.
