Naija Feminists Media (NFM) seeks literary submissions

DEADLINE: MARCH 10, 2025 — Naija Feminists Media (NFM) seeks literary submissions for #CollectiveActionNow campaign, aimed at amplifying critical issues related to women’s rights and gender equality.

This initiative, launched in honor of Women’s Month, invites passionate writers, artists and creatives to contribute their reflections on topics such as sexual health, reproductive rights and gender-based violence.

The #CollectiveActionNow campaign is an annual global initiative by NFM designed to give women a powerful platform to voice their experiences and advocate for systemic change.

NFM is accepting submissions in various creative and journalistic categories, including news stories, poems, articles, essays, photographs, photo essays, illustrations, paintings (including digital), graphic designs, and short stories. Submissions must adhere to specific guidelines, including originality and word count.

Articles, essays, and short stories should be between 1,000 and 3,000 words, while poems should range between 12 and 20 lines. Photo essays should contain 10 to 15 images with detailed captions, and videos should be between one and five minutes, fully captioned in English. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Works must be in English, though videos in other languages should include English subtitles.

Submissions should address gender disparities in Africa and focus on key themes such as women’s history, domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape and sexual assault, economic abuse, female genital mutilation, child marriage, sex trafficking, honor killings, reproductive coercion, emotional and psychological abuse, workplace violence, cyber harassment, intimate partner violence, maternity discrimination, street harassment and educational inequality.

Selected works will be published on the NFM website and promoted across social media platforms, including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Contributors will receive public recognition and shoutouts throughout the campaign.

Interested participants should submit their works to naijafeminists@gmail.com, copying partnerships@naijafeministsmedia.org.ng. The subject line should follow this format: Accelerate Action; Collective Action Now followed by category and focus area, (e.g., Collective_Action_Now_Workplace Regulations).

Naija Feminists Media does not charge any fees for submissions or participation in this campaign. All selected works are chosen purely on merit, and there is no financial remuneration for contributions.

The deadline for submissions is March 10, 2025.
