As part of the efforts to help stakeholders understand, advocate and defend digital rights in Africa, Paradigm Initiative’s Digital Rights Academy workshop 2021 commenced on Monday.
Held at Bon Elvis Hotel, Aminu Crescent Close in Abuja, Nigeria, the 5-day workshop brings together academia, civil society organizations, government representatives, legal practitioners, and members of the public and private sector and is facilitated by experts within the digital ecosystem.
A news brief released by Dodeye Ebri, Communications, Paradigm Initiative, revealed that the academy is brought together in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Africa China Reporting Project, and Global Partners Digital.
According to the brief, “Discussion at the workshop will focus on digital rights violations, business and human rights, women’s rights, freedom of expression and internet shutdowns, privacy rights, digital inclusion for disadvantaged groups, freedom of expression, and a litigation clinic.
“The Digital Rights Academy is aimed at building the capacity of African civil society organizations, journalists, advocates, and others to understand, advocate and defend digital rights on the continent.”
