Reuters Institute seeks Director of Journalist Programmes

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 — The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford is accepting applications for the position of Director of Journalist Programmes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery, strategic development, and financial sustainability of all journalist-facing programmes at the Institute, including the prestigious Reuters Journalist Fellowship Programme, the Oxford Climate Journalism Network, and other short courses and initiatives.

This full-time role is suited to a senior editorial leader with an international reputation and proven expertise across journalism, research, and media policy. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, development, and fundraising capabilities. The role forms part of the Institute’s senior management team and reports directly to the Institute Director.

Applicants must be recognised authorities in their field, possess exceptional communication and organisational skills, and be willing to reside in Oxford. The position is fixed-term until August 31, 2028, with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

Salary is Grade 10: £62,728–£72,691, with a discretionary range up to £79,413 per annum.
