DEADLINE: MAY 31, 2025 — The Tarbell Centre for AI Journalism has grants of $1,000 to $15,000 to support original reporting on artificial intelligence and its impacts.

Via its grants for AI reporting published in established media outlets, Tarbell Centre seeks forward-looking stories, examining how today’s technical advancements and policy decisions lay the groundwork for how this technology will shape the future.

The Centre seeks pitches on these critical AI beats:

  • Investigations into frontier AI companies
  • National and international AI policymaking
  • Integration of AI in governments and militaries
  • AI capabilities, safeguards, and evaluations
  • Future of work and society in the age of advanced AI

Experienced journalists and media creators, whether staff writers, editors, producers or freelancers, can apply for these grants. While a background in reporting on AI and/or technology is desirable, it is not mandatory.

The deadline to apply is May 31, 2025.​
