Scheduled for July 9-10, 2026, the two-day advanced training will take place in Abuja.
It aims to strengthen Nigerian journalists’ capacity to identify and counter electoral disinformation, with special attention to the role of Al in newsrooms.
What to Expect:
Participants will gain practical skills in identifying and analysing electoral disinformation narratives, fact-checking methodologies and verification workflows. detecting Al-generated content, deepfakes and coordinated campaigns, understanding both the opportunities and risks of Al tools in journalistic workflows. strengthening critical judgment when using Al in reporting and verification, and understanding the Nigerian information environment ahead of the 2027 elections The workshop combines expert-led sessions with hands-on exercises, including applied verification techniques such as image and video analysis, geolocation and real case studies from Nigeria, as well as practical exploration of Al tools currently used in newsrooms.

Journalists, editors and media professionals interested in strengthening their capacity to report accurately in increasingly complex and Al-driven information environments.
