Investigative story projects on women and girls’ rights

DEADLINE: JULY 28, 2025 — The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) seeks investigative story projects on women and girls’ rights.

Through the Champion Building component of the Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement project, WSCIJ invites male and female investigative reporters to apply for story and leadership project support.

Applicants are expected to propose investigative reporting or leadership projects that:

  • Expose abuse of power or systemic injustices affecting girls and women.
  • Challenge harmful policies, practices, or neglect by government, institutions, or other actors.
  • Promote accountability in the protection and advancement of women’s and girls’ rights as fundamental human rights.
  • Increase the presence and perspectives of women and girls in media through in-depth, evidence-based reporting.
  • Investigate the restrictions to women in political leadership
  • Advance the development or implementation of gender policies in media organisations.

The deadline for applications is July 28, 2025.
