DEADLINE: MARCH 20, 2023— Journalists covering epidemics in Nigeria can apply for this two-month fellowship programme organised by the Nigeria Health Watch (NHW).
The NHW seeks outstanding local journalists based in Abuja, Lagos and Kano States with a passion for covering epidemic preparedness.
Fellows will receive training on epidemic preparedness and response, including workshops, field visits, mentorship, and coaching from experienced journalists and public health experts.
They will also receive financial support for the fellowship period.
Interested fellows should propose two story ideas on the the current state of Nigeria’s funding for epidemic preparedness and one of the following themes:
• The economic cost of not providing adequate funding for epidemic preparedness.
• Existing gaps in current funding pattern for epidemic preparedness.
• How lack of sustained funding of Nigeria’s public health institutes makes infectious disease outbreaks catastrophic.
The deadline for applications is March 20, 2023.
