Digital Journalists can apply for Tow Center Fellowship

DEADLINE: JANUARY 11, 2021 — The Tow Center for Digital Journalism is currently accepting proposals to research emerging technology and trends impacting the news industry.

The Tow Center’s mission is to help individual journalists, students, faculty, news organizations, and policymakers to develop and expand their thinking around and practice in digital journalism.

Students, researchers, faculty, and practitioners in the fields of computer science and journalism can apply.

The amount of funding award depends widely on the scope, duration, and complexity of the research project.

Proposals must cover these areas:

  • Computation, Algorithms, and Automated Journalism
  • Data, Metrics, and Impact
  • Audiences and Engagement
  • Experimental Journalism, Models, and Practice

This is a non-residential fellowship open to both Columbia and non-Columbia affiliates.
